Is it really a great midranger ?
When I first saw the above Nokia X71 poll results by gsmarena.com (One of the top tech website) I was very happy with it. Then I started browsing through the comments section of the poll & that was very disappointing. Most of the users were not happy with its Snapdragon 660 chipset & its $390 USD price. As an Editor of Nokiafanss I have faced a lot of questions (Still facing) from users like “Why they’re using Snapdragon 660 in 2019?” & “When Nokia X71 will be launched in India & at what price?”. Personally speaking I’m also not happy with SD 660 chipset used in this device but I’m in love with its great design. Atleast HMD has adopted the latest trend from the technology quikly.
How it could be a great midranger?
The real issue is HMD doesn’t look working faster interms of availability of the new Nokia devices & don’t know how much time they will take in bringing X71 in the global smartphone market.
The next & most important thing is its “Price”. If HMD manages to price Nokia X71 aggressively then I’m sure it will be one of the most successful smartphones of 2019 & obviously best selling Nokia smartphone for HMD Global. Especially I’m worried about its price in Indian market. India is the world’s second biggest smartphone market after China & the competition is very tough. Chinese brands are growing very fast in India just because the specs & their aggressive price tag.
HMD has already clarified that they aren’t joining the specs race with the competition. HMD is focussed on the overall user experience of the Nokia smartphone user & that’s great. You always get the feel of holding something expensive even if you are using the entry level Nokia smartphone. To bring the old Nokia days Back, HMD really needs to work more faster interms of availability & also in the marketing of new devices.
