Nokia Phones data collection centre will be moved to Finland | HMD partners with CGI & Google Cloud

Today HMD Global has announced the Nokia Phones data collection center is now getting moved to Finland (Europe). Until now the Nokia Phones data was getting stored on the servers in Singapore. Now HMD is partnered with consultancy firm CGI and Google Cloud to move and store phone activation and performance data.

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, today announces a partnership with consultancy firm CGI and Google Cloud to move and store phone activation and performance data at the Google Cloud Region in Hamina, Finland. The move will deliver an even better customer and device experience for Nokia phone users, by improving the speed and accuracy of device enhancements delivered to Nokia phones.

By using Google Cloud’s advanced data analytics and machine learning technologies, combined with CGI´s cloud and data science expertise, HMD Global can fully leverage data analytics to benefit Nokia phone fans around the world.

Which are the first Nokia smartphones whose data will be stored in Finland ?

They will be Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2 & newly announced Nokia 2.2 :

The first Nokia smartphones to begin storing data to the new centre will be new Nokia smartphones starting from the Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2 and the Nokia 2.2

What about other Nokia Phones ?

As per this press release the remaining Nokia smartphones data will be migrated to Hamina (Finland) when the eligible devices gets Android Q update :

Data from earlier Nokia smartphone models* being migrated to Hamina after the Android Q update starting later this year and completed in 2020.

*When eligible Nokia smartphones upgrade to Android Q their data will be moved to Hamina, Finland.
