In this article, we’re providing you the list of Nokia smartphones which are likely to get the Android Q update in the next few months. We received a lot of questions regarding this on our social media pages. So, we decided to answer your most favourite question. Please note the below list isn’t officially provided by HMD but it’s based on the company’s “2 years of OS update” promise. As per this promise we can say, if your device was originally announced with Android 7.0 Nougat then you have already received two major OS updates & your device is ineligible for Android Q.

List of Eligible Nokia Smartphones for Android Q

Nokia 1 :

Announced back in MWC’18 currently this is the most affordable Nokia smartphone with Android Go. Originally launched with Android Oreo 8.1 & currently it’s running on Android 9.0 Pie. If you’re using this device then you will surely get the Android Q (As this is powered by MediaTek MT6737 it may take a longer for HMD to upgrade this device as compared to other devices listed below).

Nokia 1 Plus :

This is the successor of Nokia 1 & currently running on Android 9.0 Pie (Go edition). Not only Android Q but this device is also expected to get Android “R”.

Nokia 2.1, 3.1 & 5.1 :

Last year (2018) HMD announced these new trio of budget Nokia smartphones first at an event held in Russia & later in other markets. All of the above trio are currently running on Android 9.0 Pie & are eligible for Android Q.

Nokia 2.2 :

This is the latest budget Nokia Android smartphone announced in June 2019. Currently it runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box & eligible for Android Q as well as “R”.

Nokia 3.1 Plus, 3.2 & 4.2 :

Nokia 3.1 Plus is the successor to Nokia 3.1. While 3.2 & 4.2 were announced at MWC’19 in Barcelona. All of the above smartphones are running on Android 9.0 Pie & eligible for Android ‘Q’ as well as Pie.

Nokia 5.1 Plus (aka X5), 6.1 & Nokia 6.1 Plus (aka X6) :

The Nokia 5.1 Plus & 6.1 Plus both are one of the most successful smartphones of 2018 for HMD. While Nokia 6.1 (aka Nokia 6 2018) is also a great device. All of these mid-range smartphones has already received their first major OS update Android 9.0 Pie & are eligible for Android Q.

Nokia X71 :

This mid-range Nokia smartphone is currently available in only China & Taiwan. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. This device is eligible for Android Q & “R “.

Nokia 7.1, 7 Plus & 8.1 (aka X7) :

These 3 devices are upper mid-range Nokia smartphones. The Nokia 7.1 & 7 Plus were originally launched with Android Oreo & already received their first major OS update Android 9.0 Pie. While Nokia 8.1 runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Which means 7.1/7 Plus users will get the next Android Q update & Nokia 8.1 is eligible for Android Q as well as “R”. Nokia 8 Sirocco & Nokia 9 PureView :

Nokia 8 Sirocco is company’s second flagship smartphone after Nokia 8. It was first announced at MWC’18 in Barcelona. Originally launched with Android Oreo currently it’s running on Android 9.0 Pie & eligible for Android “Q”. While Nokia 9 PureView is the company’s most powerful flagship smartphone yet. Nokia 9 is eligible for Android Q as well as Android “R”.

List of devices which are ineligible for Android Q

All of the below listed Nokia smartphones were originally launched with Android 7.0/7.1 Nougat & they have already received their first two major OS updates (except Nokia 2). These devices are ineligible for Android Q :

Nokia 2 (2017), Nokia 3 (2017), Nokia 5 (2017), Nokia 6 (2017), Nokia 7 (China exclusive) & Nokia 8 (2017).
